Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Wednesday, Sept. 30: At 2:28 pm a deputy and the Scranton fire department responded to a combine fire near C Ave and 250th St in Scranton Township. At 5:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of railroad crossing arms stuck down on 13th St in Grand Junction. At 7:39 pm the sheriff investigated a theft in the 400 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 11:27 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 1800 block of County Road E-53 west of Grand Junction. Trista Murphy, 26, of Grand Junction struck a deer with a 2013 Dodge Dart, causing an estimated $2,500 damage to the vehicle.
Tuesday, Sept. 29: At 12:58 am a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with a death notification in Grand Junction. At 6:46 am a deputy investigated a reported car-deer accident on Highway 30 near Highway 144 at Grand Junction. The driver had left the scene. At 3:03 pm a deputy investigated a report of smoke coming from a house. Scranton fire responded also. The fire was found to be a controlled burn in the 500 block of 197th Place in Kendrick Township. At 7:44 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest.
Monday, Sept. 28: Routine activity reported.
Sunday, Sept. 27: At 12:07 am deputies investigated vehicle fire in 1600 block of Highway 144 south of Grand Junction. Curt Bronnenburg, 57, of Perry, was southbound on Highway 144 near 250th St when a deer entered the roadway. He swerved to avoid striking it and lost control of his 1978 Chevrolet Corvette. The vehicle entered the east ditch and caught on fire. No injuries were reported. Grand Junction fire and rescue responded. The vehicle sustained severe/totaled damage. At 1:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. At 8:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton.
Saturday, Sept. 26: At 10:26 pm a deputy checked the area of 1100 block of Orchard Ave in Hardin Township for a subject that is wanted. Christopher David Spaulding, 53, of Jefferson was located and arrested on charges of unlawful possession of prescription drugs (two counts) and operating under the influence- second offense*.
Friday, Sept. 25: At 2:36 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 400 block of Madison St in Scranton. At 2:52 pm deputy assisted Grand Junction fire department with a field fire in the 1200 block of V Ave in Junction Township.
Thursday, Sept. 24: At 7:54 am the sheriff, deputies and the Iowa State Patrol assisted the Jefferson PD with an area search for wanted subject in the 700 block of W. Sunset Rd. At 11:42 am deputies assisted the Grand Junction fire department with field fire in the 1600 block of V Ave in Junction Township. At 1:53 pm deputies and the Iowa State Patrol assisted the Jefferson PD with an area search for wanted subject in the 500 block of S. Olive St. At 9:13 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an area search for a wanted subject in the 200 block of N. Maple St. At 10:42 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 1000 block of Main St E. in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, Sept. 23: At 12:32 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint on Highway 25 and County Road E-63 (330th St) in Willow Township. At 1:38 pm the sheriff, deputies, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted the Jefferson PD with the search of a residence for a wanted subject in the 700 block of W. Sunset Rd. At 2:44 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1200 block of Orchard Ave in Hardin Township. At 5:41 pm the sheriff, deputies and Iowa State Patrol assisted the JPD with an area search for a wanted subject in the 700 block of W. Sunset Rd.
Tuesday, Sept. 22: At 5:06 am a deputy checked on a reported coyote dead in the roadway on Highway 4 near 257th St south of Jefferson. At 10:38 am a deputy assisted with a cow out on County Road E-53 near R Ave west of Grand Junction. At 7:46 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road N-65 (D Ave) near County Road E-19 (140th St) in Cedar Township. Conner Groves, 27, of Churdan struck a deer with a 2016 Dodge Dart. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,500. At 11:30 pm the sheriff, deputies, and Carroll County sheriff’s deputies assisted the Jefferson PD with a pursuit in the 700 block of Sunset Drive.
Monday, Sept. 21: At 9:43 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 300 block of Lovejoy St in Rippey. At 11:10 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a barking dog in the 400 block of Cartwright St in Rippey. At 9:59 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1000 block of Irving St in Scranton.
Sunday, Sept. 20: At 7:37 am a deputy assisted with a cow on the railroad tracks near County Roads E-53 P-14 (J Ave) west of Jefferson. At 8:30 am a deputy arrested Samantha Joy, 23, of Scranton on warrants for child endangerment and permitting an unauthorized person to drive*. At 6:55 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with trying to located a suspect involved in an assault. At 8:23 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite that occurred in the 1000 block of Eagle St in Scranton.
Saturday, Sept. 19: At 9:15 am a deputy arrested Lori Palmer, 63, of Scranton on a warrant for criminal mischief- fifth degree (simple misdemeanor)*. She was also cited for no valid driver’s license. 5th degree and no valid driver’s license. At 2:40 pm a deputy arrested Joyce Davis, 71, of Jamaica and Tammy Tolsdorf, 54, also of Jamaica, on warrants for perjury*.
Friday, Sept. 18: At 9:49 am a deputy investigated a complaint of identity theft in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 12:01 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of manure on the roadway on County Road P-46 (W Ave) near 222nd St. At 7:43 pm a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer on Highway 30 near Oakland Ave east of Jefferson.
Thursday, Sept. 17: At 11:52 am a deputy collected found drug paraphernalia in the 900 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. At 4:26 pm the sheriff and a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a traffic stop on N. Grimmell Rd near Highway 30. Nicholas Weber, 20, of Jefferson was arrested for obstructing prosecution or defense, failure to affix drug tax stamp, and a controlled substance violation*. Dalton Weber, 22, of Scranton was arrested for a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.* At 7:25 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 100 block of Hager St W in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, Sept. 16: At 4:20 am the sheriff, a deputy, Jefferson PD, and Carroll PD assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office with a pursuit on Highway 30. The pursuit reached speeds of 120 mph. A Jefferson officer deployed spike strips on Highway 30 at County Road P-14 in Greene County. The pursuit ended on Highway 30 near Mulberry St on the east side of Jefferson. The driver, Linda Diebold, 55, of Illinois was arrested by the Carroll County sheriff’s office for eluding and operating while intoxicated*. At 7:35 am a deputy assisted with a cow out on S Ave near County Road E-53 west of Grand Junction. At 11:25 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of 12th St S in Grand Junction. At 11:50 am a deputy investigated a complaint of cattle manure dumped on County Road P-46 (W Ave) over a mile south of Highway 30 in Junction Township. At 6:33 pm a deputy assisted the Guthrie County sheriff’s office with a search of an apartment in Bayard.
Tuesday, Sept. 15: At 8:53 am a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 400 block of 15th St S in Grand Junction. Conar Hornsby, 23, of Grand Junction was arrested on a Guthrie County warrant for probation violation*. At 1:33 pm a deputy, Scranton fire and Churdan fire responded to a semi tractor-trailer fire on County Road N-65 (D Ave) at the intersection of 150th St in Cedar Township. It appeared the rear brakes on the tractor portion caught fire, melting the aluminum trailer and spilling beans on the roadway. The driver, Michael Nelsen, 62, of Lohrville, noticed the fire and stopped. Damage to the tractor was estimated at $15,000; damage to the trailer was estimated at $20,000.
Monday, Sept. 14: At 6:28 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on P Ave near Quaker Ave in Grant Township. At 9:48 am a deputy arrested Amy Tasler, 41, of Grand Junction on a Clarke County arrest warrant for a parole violation. At 4:12 pm deputies assisted Boone County deputies with a pursuit near the county line. At 7 pm Beth Laurent, 49, of Ames was booked into the county jail for a mittimus for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and theft- third degree*.
Sunday, Sept. 13: At 1:23 am a deputy transported Mark Frohwein, 23, of Ames from the Hamilton County jail on an arrest warrant for failure to appear. At 1:50 pm a deputy assisted with an inmate who had a missing razor in a jail cell. At 8:25 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 4 near 257th St south of Jefferson. Robert Martinez, 38 Jamaica struck a deer with a 2010 Toyota RAV4, causing an estimated $2,500 in damage to the vehicle.

Friday, Sept. 11: At 5:31 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 900 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. At 5:49 pm a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer that was struck on Highway 30 near County Road P-14 (J Ave) west of Jefferson. At 7:15 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle property damage accident on Highway 30 at County Road P-46 (W Ave) east of Grand Junction. Brianna Olson, 21, of Minnesota was southbound on P-46 driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Kevin Spooner, 57, of Johnston was eastbound on Highway 30 driving a 2020 Toyota Tundra. Olson failed to stop as posted at the intersection and Spooner’s vehicle struck hers. There were no injuries. Olson was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to her Malibu was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Spooner’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
Thursday, Sept. 10: At 9:40 am a deputy assisted the Linn County sheriff’s office with trying to located a missing juvenile in Churdan. The juvenile was not located and found to be in Chicago. At 10:55 am a deputy arrested Michael Eastman, 46, of Jefferson on a warrant for parole violation. At 1:14 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 400 block of Harding St in Churdan. At 4:19 pm a deputy assisted a probation officer with trying to locate a person wanted for a parole violation. At 5:31 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal narcotics being found in a residence in the 500 block of 12th St S in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, Sept. 9: At 11:25 am the sheriff investigated a bad check that was written to the Greene County treasurer. At 1:05 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 300 block of 7th St S in Grand Junction. At 1:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 900 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 5:45 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 400 block of 15th St S in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, Sept. 8: At 8:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1900 block of 130th St in Paton Township.
Monday, Sept. 6: At 1:32 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on County Road P-14 (J Ave) and Highway 30 west of Jefferson. Kayleigh Fowler, 16, of Jefferson was driving eastbound on Highway 30 driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. Glen Garnett was stopped in the eastbound lane waiting to turn onto P-14, driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck towing a 1994 Wilderness camper. Fowler failed to stop and struck the rear of Garnett’s camper. Greene County Ambulance responded and transported one person to Greene County Medical Center with minor injuries. Fowler was cited for use of an electronic device. Damage to her car was estimated at $10,000. Damage to the camping trailer was also estimated at $10,000.
Sunday, Sept 6: At 9:50 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a complaint of a male subject with a gun at A & W Family Restaurant.
Saturday, Sept. 5: At 2:11 am deputies investigated a large fight at Hyde Park campground. Justin Venteicher, 39, and Jaimie Day, 42, both of Jefferson, and Jon Bushman, 43, of Scranton were all arrested for disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanor)*. At 11:54 am a deputy, Scranton fire and Ralston fire responded to an out-of-control fire in the 100 block of 250th St in Scranton Township. At 12:34 pm a deputy assisted the Greene County conservation officer with evicting several campers from Hyde Park. At 1:34 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton. At 4:33 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on R Ave near 235th St in Grant Township. The driver, Michael Eastman, 46, of Jefferson exited the vehicle and through an object into a cornfield. There was no valid driver in the car. Eastman was arrested for driving while license barred, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia*. Brenda Kennedy, 48, of Grand Junction came to drive the car away; she was also wanted in Dallas County for failure to appear. At 11:04 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite at Spring Lake.
Friday, Sept. 4: At 7:56 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 400 block of E. Paton St in Paton. At 8:52 am a deputy assisted with a calf out on County Road P-14 (J Ave) near Highway 30. At 1:53 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 400 block of 15th St S in Grand Junction. At 8 pm a deputy assisted with an unruly inmate. Jacob Hartman, 32, of Jefferson charged with criminal mischief- fifth degree* in the jail.
Thursday, Sept. 3: At 10:29 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 1:56 pm a deputy arrested Eddie Mun, 36, of Grand Junction on a warrant for probation violation*. At 2:25 pm a deputy assisted the Boone County SO with trying to locate three suspects from a robbery in Boone County. At 9:38 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 400 block of S. 15th St in Paton.
Wednesday, Sept. 2: At 4:44 am a deputy investigated a car–deer accident on Highway 4 near 210th St north of Jefferson. Roger Olson, 72, of Churdan struck a deer with a 2005 Ford Focus. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000. At 12:46 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 1100 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 2 pm a deputy was involved in a pursuit on Highway 30 near A Ave. The driver, Chanze Bushman, 19, of Scranton was arrested on charges of reckless driving, interference with official acts and child endangerment*. He was also cited for no valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control. At 2:22 pm the sheriff and a deputy investigated an assault in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 9:08 pm a deputy arrested Darren Lehrkamp, 27, of Scranton on a South Dakota arrest warrant for a parole violation*. At 9:18 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 2000 block of L Ave in Greenbrier Township.
Tuesday, Sept. 1: At At 12:45 am a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with trying to locate a driver who was involved in a domestic assault in the Rippey area. At 6:13 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of State St in Scranton. At 2:30 pm the sheriff and deputies arrested Bradley Wolf, 46, of Jefferson on a warrant for failure to appear. Wolf resisted arrest and was charged with interference with official acts and disorderly conduct*.
